Scholars in Trinity's Religious Studies field investigate religion's role and importance in diverse global settings. Our academics employ various approaches - from textual and historical to philosophical and sociocultural - to examine how faith traditions influence societies throughout history and today. Some concentrate on scriptural, theological, and cultural dimensions, exploring concepts like divine existence, free will, and everyday religious practices. Others analyze religion's moral and sociopolitical consequences, with ethicists specifically examining how faith systems address contemporary issues such as environmental justice, gender identity, civil liberties, and collective welfare.
