The School of Engineering encompasses three key departments: Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering; Electronic and Electrical Engineering; and Mechanical, Manufacturing and Biomedical Engineering. The School offers diverse postgraduate opportunities, including part-time and full-time Master's and Diploma programs, as well as advanced research initiatives typically culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
Research Initiatives
Renowned globally for its research excellence, the School of Engineering generates over 6 million in annual research funding. These resources support graduate students and postdoctoral researchers working in state-of-the-art facilities with cutting-edge equipment. Qualified applicants may enroll as graduate students in the research fields listed below, with many receiving scholarships that cover tuition, fees, and living expenses for Master's and Ph.D. candidates. Presently, the School hosts more than 330 postgraduate students alongside numerous postdoctoral fellows and research associates, including many international scholars from across Europe and beyond.
Postgraduate work in Trinity College Dublin is very academically challenging and as a result the University has high academic entry requirements. Applicants will need to hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country; a fluent command of the English language. Display a high level of competence in the English language in one of the examination systems recognised by Trinity College Dublin.
