The School boasts more than 200 postgraduate researchers working towards MSc, PhD, or MD qualifications.
Research efforts in the School of Medicine concentrate on six key themes: Cancer, Genetics, Infection and Immunity, Molecular Medicine, Neurosciences, and Population Health.
Studies are carried out across our affiliated teaching hospitals such as St James's, the Trinity Centre at Tallaght University Hospital, and St Patrick's. A strong focus lies on Translational Research within the School, enabling scientific breakthroughs from laboratories to progress into clinical applications that improve patient care. The Trinity Translational Medicine Institute, located at St James's, serves as a hub for this translational work. Additionally, cutting-edge research facilities on Trinity's main campus, including the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute and Trinity College Institute for Neuroscience, support these investigations.
