The School of Natural Sciences brings together the disciplines of Botany, Geography, Geology, and Zoology, along with the Centre for the Environment, creating a world-renowned, research-focused hub of academic distinction that unites biological, physical, and social scientists.
Graduate Research Opportunities
Faculty research within the School covers four primary focus areas: Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Molecular Biology and Physiological Studies, as well as Social Geography and Environmental Studies.
Our research efforts are led by 39 principal investigators, supported by postdoctoral fellows and graduate students working across numerous vibrant research fields. Presently, we have over 140 doctoral candidates, plus an additional 50 students enrolled in our one-year master's programs (Environmental Science, Biodiversity Conservation, and Sustainable Development), along with 45 students pursuing the two-year Master's in Development Practice.
Postgraduate work in Trinity College Dublin is very academically challenging and as a result the University has high academic entry requirements. Applicants will need to hold at least a 2.1 honors degree from an Irish university or equivalent result from a university in another country; a fluent command of the English language. Display a high level of competence in the English language in one of the examination systems recognised by Trinity College Dublin.
