The School of Histories and Humanities brings together four academic units: Classics, History, History of Art and Architecture, and the Centre for Gender and Women's Studies. Our 36 full-time faculty members maintain a global research reputation across diverse fields such as archaeology, philosophy, ancient languages, historical periods from Classical to Modern, art and architectural history, and gender studies. The School currently enrolls 96 research students and 107 postgraduate taught students. Our faculty emphasizes research-driven instruction, values student input, and encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The School frequently organizes international conferences and maintains six prominent research seminar series, creating platforms for global scholars and graduate students to share findings and discuss ideas. We actively participate in numerous prestigious Irish research centers, with eight based within our School: the Trinity Irish Art Research Centre, Medieval History Research Centre, Early Modern History Centre, Contemporary Irish History Centre, Irish/Scottish/Comparative Studies Centre, War Studies Centre, Gender and Women's Studies Centre, and Mediterranean/Near Eastern Studies Centre.
