This program aims to develop graduates with comprehensive expertise in Electrical, Control & Automation Engineering, equipping them to analyze and resolve challenges in industrial electrical and automation systems. Electrical Engineers will lead diagnostics for complex electrical and control systems while collaborating with teams to ensure timely project completion within allocated resources.
Through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on lab experience, this program establishes a solid grounding in electrical and automation engineering, preparing students for professional careers or advanced graduate studies. The curriculum emphasizes fundamental principles in mathematics, engineering science, controls, and electrical engineering.
Students have the opportunity to gain industry experience during Year 3 through work placements. Practical training in state-of-the-art laboratories enhances technical proficiency, familiarizing learners with essential technologies and knowledge for careers in the electrical and automation field. The department fosters strong industry connections, enabling many graduates to secure employment before completing their studies.
Qualified electricians can directly enter Year 2 to enhance their skills and credentials, facilitating a transition to roles in the industrial sector.
Applicants must satisfy a minimum entry requirement of grade O6 in four Leaving Certificate subjects including English or Irish plus a minimum grade of O5 in Ordinary Level Mathematics.
