During this program, learners will delve into engaging and evolving subject matter and hands-on training, equipping them with the expertise and competencies to become strong contenders in their chosen career within this field. Early childhood education and care (ECEC) embodies a comprehensive perspective on learning. Participants can explore various modules including Child Health and Wellbeing, Play, STEAM, Curriculum Development, Leadership and Management, and School Age Childcare. This program aims to provide graduates with fundamental knowledge, practical skills, and ethical principles to excel as professional Early Childhood Educators.
A multidisciplinary approach is essential in vibrant, high-quality inclusive early years settings, and this course prepares students through problem-based learning and contemporary concepts. Additionally, the curriculum structure and content align with sector policies and regulatory standards, including Aistear, Siolta, the Quality and Regulatory Framework (QRF) First 5, and professional Award Criteria and Guidelines. This innovative, practice-oriented program teaches students to integrate theory with real-world application. Interactive learning is fostered through lectures, seminars, workshops, and inquiry-based activities using children's educational materials.
The Early Childhood Program at TUS Moylish campus boasts extensive global educational and industry connections, enabling students to participate in international exchanges, work placements, or internships in locations like Canada and Europe. Participants will undertake 400-hour practical placements in years 2 and 3 (for those advancing to the Level 7 program) within early years education settings or child-focused organizations. These Professional Practice Placements allow students to cultivate the practical abilities needed to become outstanding Early Years Educators as they advance through each stage of the program.
Professional Accreditation
In 2022, this degree underwent program review and maintains its recognition as meeting the Professional Award Criteria and Guidelines for Initial Professional Education (Level 7 and Level 8) Degree Programs in Ireland's Early Learning and Care Sector. TUS currently appears on the QAB Approved List of courses.
