The MA Journalism program at TU Dublin's School of Media builds upon a 50-year legacy of innovation in journalism education. As the field evolves, this dynamic course adapts while maintaining core fundamentals of cross-platform reporting, production, and editing - spanning video journalism, radio, podcasting, and digital news. Students engage in comprehensive learning through instruction, hands-on training, real-world practice, diverse assignments, seminars, tutorials, collaborative projects, self-directed study, and research. (The program also includes an industry placement component).
High-quality journalism from thoughtful, analytical professionals plays a vital role in sustaining democratic societies. This program cultivates versatile journalists with critical thinking skills and a deep appreciation for journalism's societal function. Alumni have established careers with media outlets in Ireland and internationally, as well as in social media firms and other sectors that prize exceptional communication abilities.
Applicants should have an honours bachelor degree (2.2 grade or higher), or equivalent, in any relevant discipline. Non-standard applications are also considered. Applicants may be required to attend an interview. A short-list is then drawn up and successful applicants are sent first-round offers. If any places are not taken up, these are offered to applicants on a reserve list.
