This program enhances postgraduate expertise through modules that bridge theory and practice in Building Regulatory Compliance (BRC). Professionals will acquire comprehensive knowledge, abilities, and judgment to assess compliance methods holistically, including conventional regulatory approaches. They'll develop the discernment to employ alternative regulatory solutions and the expertise to choose appropriate strategies for diverse scenarios. Developed in collaboration with the National Building Control and Market Surveillance Office, the program assists Building Control Authorities in applying regulations while fostering a compliance-oriented culture.
Therefore, the curriculum addresses not just regulatory requirements and non-compliance repercussions, but also how standards contribute to creating secure, health-conscious environments that prioritize public welfare. Regulatory excellence demands honesty, uniformity, and openness, necessitating extensive training that covers both technical aspects and core compliance competencies, inspection methods, and enforcement practices to maintain equity and reliability.

Qualification Requirements
Applicants for this programme should hold a NFQ Level 8 Honours degree with a minimum of Honours 2.2 in a cognate discipline.
Cognate discipline areas of study include: civil engineering, construction studies, construction management, architecture, architectural technology, building services, building surveying, quantity surveying, energy engineering, energy management, building physics, physical and chemical sciences, health and safety, fire management, fire systems, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, electronic engineering, systems engineering.
or
have a non-cognate NQF Level 8 degree with a minimum of Honours 2.2 together with a minimum of 5 years relevant industrial experience in a cognate area.
Entry to the programme may also be allowed via the Institute's Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process on an individual case-by-case basis. This RPL process includes the matching of the candidate's prior learning (education and experiential) with the equivalent Level 8 programme outcomes.
All students whose first language is not English must be able to provide evidence that their spoken and written level of English is adequate for the programme for which they have applied. The relevant certified documentation to support this shall be provided as part of the application process. An approved English language qualification or test result (see below for list of approved qualifications and test results). The qualification or test result shall have been awarded no more than two years prior to the proposed date of enrolment. Substantial education (minimum one academic year) or work experience (minimum eighteen months) conducted through English and undertaken no more than two years prior to the proposed date of enrolment. Satisfactory completion of an interview process for entry onto the programme.
