The Certificate in Respiratory Care Skills (Intellectual Disabilities) is a 10-credit, level 9 specialized qualification delivered over one semester through blended learning. This course strengthens nurses' evidence-based expertise, practical abilities, and professional capabilities in managing respiratory conditions for individuals with intellectual disabilities across all age groups. As Ireland's first level 9, 10-credit specialized program of its kind, it focuses on developing students' understanding, technical proficiency, and ethical approach to respiratory care for this population throughout their lives. The curriculum combines clinical and theoretical instruction from the university's intellectual disability specialists while incorporating insights from HSE Allied Health Professionals.
