This flexible, Level 8 honors degree is designed for professionals currently working in ECEC, while also welcoming those entering from Leaving Certificate or further education through the full-time MH003 program. The curriculum maintains strong connections to real-world Early Childhood Education and Care practices, with instructors who bring extensive experience in ECEC development, implementation, and advocacy. A distinctive collaboration between Maynooth University and Early Childhood Ireland provides exceptional support in bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application for ECEC excellence. Students complete work placements in Tusla-registered ECEC settings, with current sector professionals potentially using their workplaces while also undertaking alternative placements annually. The Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Teaching and Learning is an innovative Level 8 program that cultivates exceptional early childhood educators. Learners may exit with a Level 7 qualification after three years or complete the fourth year for the Level 8 degree. Graduates gain access to diverse career advancement opportunities in the field. This program has received approval from the Qualifications Advisory Board (established to evaluate Level 7 and 8 degrees for the Early Learning and Care sector) as meeting all Professional Award Criteria and Guidelines standards.
