This Master of Science in Business Analytics program equips students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and research competencies to effectively analyze, apply, and assess big data methodologies, enabling them to extract meaningful insights that support strategic decision-making, boost operational performance, and enhance organizational competitiveness.
Program Goals
The MSc in Business Analytics is designed to equip students with both theoretical foundations and practical capabilities for assessing and implementing big data solutions that produce actionable business intelligence. These insights will guide strategic initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, financial performance, and competitive positioning.
The curriculum offers comprehensive coverage of business strategy, analytics, and technology applications while emphasizing practical implementation and regulatory considerations. Students gain both conceptual understanding in fundamental areas like statistics, decision theory, and financial strategy, along with hands-on experience in modern techniques including data analysis, visualization, predictive modeling, project management, and business application development. Those completing the full program (including the 25 ECTS capstone research project) will further strengthen their research skills through rigorous analysis and problem-solving.
Ultimately, the program fosters a deep understanding of business analytics and strategic management while advancing students' research abilities and technical competencies.
The minimum requirement for admission to this programme is a minimum second class Level 8 honours bachelor degree in a cognate area (e.g. computer science, IT, science, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, business (including quantitative methods), maths and management information systems, OR a non-cognate Level 8 honours bachelors award with three to five years’ experience in analytics.
In addition, for applicants whose first language is not English and who have not undertaken their undergraduate degree through English the following is required:
The minimum requirement for a non-native English speaker is greater or equal to B2+ in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages for admission. Non‚ÄêEU applicants, residents outside Ireland/EU, must apply directly to the International Admissions Office at DBS.
