The MSc in Actuarial Science is a full-time postgraduate program designed for students with bachelor's degrees in mathematics, statistics, finance, insurance, or other highly quantitative fields. The curriculum aligns with professional examinations from both the UK's Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) and North America's Society of Actuaries (SOA). Graduates will gain comprehensive actuarial expertise and analytical abilities in areas such as risk assessment, stochastic modeling, data interpretation, predictive analysis, and insurance pricing/reserving for both life and non-life products. XJTLU's Actuarial Science programs hold the UCAP-Advanced Curriculum (UCAP-AC) accreditation from SOA, while the undergraduate program qualifies for exemptions from three IFoA core exams (CS1, CM1, and CM2).
The MSc Actuarial Science program at XJTLU includes specialized modules teaching crucial Python/R programming skills for actuarial applications and data science.
Participants can utilize extensive resources from academic and professional sources, including the Intelligent Computing and Financial Technology Laboratory (ICFT) and global research seminars in Actuarial Science and Financial Mathematics featuring leading experts.
Our faculty provides strong academic and career support, with members holding IFoA and SOA affiliations who share industry insights and current professional trends.
Students can network with practicing actuaries through regular IFoA/SOA workshops on campus and may secure internships or employment opportunities with insurance and financial sector companies.
