York's Master of Disaster & Emergency Management (MDEM) stands as Ontario's sole graduate program in this field and one of just two nationwide. This program provides students with essential capabilities to anticipate, reduce, address, and rebound from emergencies and disasters at local, national, and global levels.
Designed for individuals with prior academic training or professional experience in emergency management, the curriculum enhances students' existing knowledge while cultivating leadership abilities required for mid-level to senior emergency management roles.
For those lacking prior Disaster & Emergency Management experience, an online preparatory course is available to establish fundamental knowledge before program commencement.
Offering flexible full-time or part-time study options, the program enables specialization in areas of personal interest while learning from distinguished faculty experts in environmental risk management, natural disasters, business continuity, public health, humanitarian law, crisis response, and complex emergencies.
