This program centers on feminist viewpoints regarding women and gender, exploring their connections with sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, ability, and age. It promotes research initiatives that bridge multiple disciplines. With an interdisciplinary foundation, the program integrates perspectives from humanities, social sciences, environmental studies, fine arts, education, and law—embracing diversity while addressing both Canadian and worldwide concerns.
Over 100 feminist scholars are affiliated with the Centre for Feminist Research, which welcomes students and globally recognized researchers from more than 30 nations for specialized lectures, conferences, and collaborative research projects.
The Graduate Program in Gender, Feminist and Women's Studies provides MA and PhD opportunities for both full-time and part-time students. Rooted in interdisciplinary principles, the program aims to cultivate feminist analytical frameworks for examining women and gender in relation to sexuality, race, ethnicity, class, ability, and age. Another key objective is to deliver comprehensive interdisciplinary education, equipping students with the skills to drive social change through both theory and practice, while preparing them for academic and non-academic research and analysis.
