York University introduced its full-time second-entry BScN program to address the rising need for nursing education that leverages previous university experience. This program is open to applicants who have earned at least 60 credits in any undergraduate degree and satisfy the prerequisite requirements. Through an intensive six-semester schedule without breaks, students can earn their BScN degree in just two years. Review the comprehensive list of currently recognized course equivalencies (PDF).
Admission decisions for the Nursing program will be made following the application deadline (February 1). Fulfilling minimum requirements does not ensure acceptance.
Like all programs in the School of Nursing, this second-entry option embodies a distinctive educational philosophy centered on fostering meaningful human connections. This patient-focused methodology responds to increasing calls for healthcare services and professionals who honor patients' health decisions and personal values. It acknowledges each patient's individual journey. We challenge you to critically examine traditional healthcare norms while developing the knowledge and abilities needed to shape the future of Canadian healthcare.
This intensive 2nd-Entry Program requires full-time commitment over two consecutive years, including summer terms, with no part-time alternative available. Graduates participate in the Fall convocation ceremonies. Term-specific details (including class schedules, exam periods, breaks, and holidays) can be found on the Registrar's Office academic calendar page.
