A Computer Security degree equips you with essential skills to launch your career as a top professional safeguarding critical infrastructure like financial institutions, transit systems, power networks, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions - all of which depend on robust security measures. You'll gain expertise in evaluating cyber risks and addressing potential vulnerabilities in software, networks, databases, IoT devices, and various computing systems. This program empowers you to make significant contributions across multiple industry sectors.
The program features an optional but highly encouraged co-op opportunity. All Computer Security students can participate in co-op after completing their second year without needing an additional application. Computer security represents a focused area within computer science that examines threats to digital systems and networks, developing strategies to counter these risks. Through this program, you'll establish strong fundamentals in computer science and mathematics while exploring specialized subjects like cryptography and operating systems.
Students can pursue either a BA or BSc degree, both sharing core computer science and math coursework. The BA program incorporates Liberal Arts electives (such as humanities and social sciences), while the BSc includes complementary science courses (like biology, chemistry, and physics).
