The Faculty of Education at Laurier focuses on employing and studying collaborative, inclusive methods to tackle the intricate issues in teaching and learning. We foster genuine, impactful relationships and partnerships with both students and the broader community.
Graduates from Laurier's Education program emerge as knowledgeable, highly competent, and self-assured educators ready to embark on their teaching paths. We invite you to be part of this rewarding journey into education – a profession that's as challenging as it is fulfilling.
To ease the shift from teacher training to professional practice, students undertake an intensive 10-week Laurier Professional Placement (LPP) at the conclusion of their second year. Throughout the LPP, you'll collaborate closely with an assigned mentor teacher at your school placement. Regular small-group seminars will provide opportunities to reflect on your experiences and develop professional insights alongside peers. This placement offers diverse classroom and school interactions to enhance your understanding of Ontario's curriculum and policies while refining your teaching abilities.
Our Education faculty are passionate about their work, which shines through in their vibrant program delivery and seminar leadership. Classes are stimulating, participatory, and maintain an optimal student-to-instructor ratio.
Throughout your studies, our educators will guide you in developing early literacy techniques for young learners, building connections with concrete-thinking children, and thriving in multilingual classroom environments. By cultivating these competencies and demonstrating exemplary teaching practices, we're confident in shaping exceptional educators for the future.
