King's University College's School of Social Work, which is part of Western University, proudly provides two full-time Master of Social Work (MSW) Direct Practice options. Students can choose between the intensive 1-year Advanced Standing track or the comprehensive 2-year Foundational program, both featuring coursework and an extensive 450-hour practicum each year. Through partnerships with child welfare agencies, healthcare providers, educational institutions, and legal/mental health organizations, our program connects students with seasoned supervisors, equipping graduates for leadership positions and specialized practice with diverse populations across various community settings.

Social work combines academic study with professional application, focusing on improving personal, family, and societal welfare while championing fairness and equitable treatment. Practitioners deliver hands-on services—from therapeutic support to resource coordination—in environments ranging from intimate counseling centers to large hospitals and emergency shelters. This training emphasizes understanding how systemic challenges like discrimination, exclusion, and inequality affect those seeking assistance. The curriculum develops competencies in analytical thinking, assessment, social activism, and grassroots initiatives to prepare students for the multifaceted responsibilities of direct service roles.
