The Global Health Systems program is a one-year professional degree (three terms, running from September 1 to August 31) collaboratively managed by Western University's Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry and Faculty of Health Sciences. This course-based program includes two academic terms (Fall/Winter) followed by a summer term featuring two experiential learning components: an international field school in Uganda and an 8-week internship.
The MHSc in GHS curriculum combines mandatory courses covering global health fundamentals, business, management, and communication with specialized electives in areas like infectious diseases, mental health, and indigenous health. From September to April, students engage in classroom learning, which transitions to hands-on experience from May to August, creating a balanced educational approach that prepares graduates for workforce demands.
