Western's undergraduate programs follow a modular structure, offering diverse mathematics courses tailored to different academic and professional paths. Prospective students should reach out to us or attend math department info sessions during the February-March registration period. We strongly support undergraduate collaboration with professors via research initiatives, the Mathematics Scholars Group, and informal pizza seminars. Our faculty has a proven track record of guiding honors students and welcomes more opportunities to mentor. Undergraduates are also invited to participate in MaCAW (the mathematics student association).
First-year prerequisites include completing 0.5 credits from Calculus 1000AB, Calculus 1500AB, Numerical and Mathematical Methods 1412AB (previously Applied Mathematics 1412AB), plus 0.5 credits from Calculus 1301AB (minimum 85%), Calculus 1501AB, Numerical and Mathematical Methods 1414AB (formerly Applied Mathematics 1414AB). The discontinued Applied Mathematics 1413 can fulfill the 1.0 Calculus requirement. All courses demand at least a 60% passing grade.
