Upon finishing Western Engineering's Common First Year, you can join the Computer Engineering program. In your second academic year, you'll select between two specializations: Electronic Devices for Ubiquitous Computing or Software Systems for Ubiquitous Computing.
Electronic Devices for Ubiquitous Computing
This track concentrates on creating electronic hardware systems, particularly for mobile communication applications. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of digital electronics from a systems viewpoint, covering core computer architecture concepts, combined hardware-software design approaches, and specialization opportunities in areas like microelectronics, AI, digital control systems, and digital signal/image processing.
Software Systems for Ubiquitous Computing
Designed for students interested in developing foundational software that interfaces directly with hardware, especially for mobile devices and smartphones. This path offers a systems-oriented approach to embedded software, focusing on essential software engineering principles, integrated hardware-software design, and specialization options including cybersecurity, digital control systems, and digital signal/image processing.
