The shared first-year curriculum ensures you and your peers study identical courses, giving you exposure to multiple engineering fields before choosing a specialization. Throughout this foundational year, you'll tackle authentic engineering challenges while building core competencies for advanced studies. This exploratory phase helps you evaluate different engineering disciplines, empowering you to select your focus area wisely from our nine available programs.
Even if you arrive at Western Engineering with a preferred specialization in mind, many students discover new interests and adjust their career paths after experiencing diverse engineering fields during the first year. Exploring various disciplines before committing to a major ultimately proves more efficient for your academic journey.
Entry requirements may vary from country to country. Students are required to complete international academic qualification equivalent to Canadian secondary school.
IELTS: A minimum overall band score of 6.5 is required with no part less than 6.0; TOEFL: A minimum overall score of 83, a minimum of 20 in each section, Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): A minimum overall score of 58, a minimum of 56 in each section; Cambridge C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency: A minimum overall score of 176, a minimum of 169 in each section.
