The Bachelor of Arts with a focus on Popular Music Studies is an exclusive program at Western University that immerses students in analyzing popular music while developing skills in production and distribution.
This comprehensive curriculum covers three key areas:
hands-on training, featuring composition techniques and evaluation of contemporary hits and albums
studio recording experience
in-depth examination of musical forms, albums, performers, and categories within their historical and societal frameworks
Students can choose from diverse course options such as Broadway musicals, jazz evolution, First Nations music traditions, global pop music trends, cinema analysis, creative writing, video game soundtracks, and cultural studies. Foundational and upper-level classes in music composition and digital production enable learners to create, refine, and document original musical works.

A minimum of a C grade in 5 GCSE or IGCSE or Ordinary Levels or equivalent in academic subjects.
A minimum of 4.0 full senior academic courses reported on your academic transcript.
A minimum SAT combined Evidence-Based Reading and Writing plus Math score of 1190 OR a minimum ACT composite score of 24.
