The Sociology Department is renowned for its innovative research on diverse justice-related topics such as crime reduction, equity in justice, law enforcement practices, gender-based violence, substance regulations, the sex industry, correctional facilities, adolescent issues, crime portrayal in media, state-sponsored conflict, civil liberties, victim studies, and digital offenses.
The Criminology Major caters to students drawn to the Power and Justice specialization within the Sociology Department, offering an interdisciplinary curriculum with cross-departmental course options.
