At Western, astrophysics researchers will guide you in studying celestial phenomena like black holes, exoplanets, meteoroids, planetary atmospheres, interstellar matter, and galactic evolution across the ages. The expertise gained through this program distinguishes our alumni, who contribute to groundbreaking studies such as the detection of gravitational waves and identification of extrasolar planets.
Western's Physics and Astronomy Department is dedicated to unraveling the universal principles that dictate existence. Our cross-disciplinary work examines the interplay of matter, forces, and energy across all scales - from Earth's immediate environment to the mysterious boundaries of faraway black holes. We're equally intrigued by physics' medical and environmental implementations as we are by the cosmic-scale phenomena that shape our universe.
