The University of Western Ontario provides a comprehensive range of French language programs, starting from introductory pre-university classes to higher-level undergraduate studies. On-campus French courses at the university level generally involve approximately 100 hours of classroom teaching. Your weekly French instruction will include 3-4 hours of lectures. Active participation and thorough preparation are essential for all class sessions. Weekly homework assignments include grammar practice, reading materials, and other exercises. Students should dedicate a minimum of 3 hours weekly to reviewing class content and preparing for upcoming sessions.
Entry Criteria: Successful completion of first-year prerequisites, which must include French 1900E, French 1910, or French 1999 with a minimum grade of 60%. Alternatively, departmental approval may be granted based on Placement Test results (minimum score requirement: 70% or higher).
