The Jazz Studies curriculum cultivates professional expertise across diverse performance styles. Students gain practical ensemble experience while developing competencies in: live performance and music analysis; composition and music theory; research methods using libraries and digital resources; keyboard proficiency; music technology applications, including multi-track recording and film scoring; audio engineering principles; essential music industry practices; general music history with a jazz emphasis; and music business operations.
This modular program allows students to tailor their education by selecting music electives that match their artistic goals, advancing through sequential course modules annually. The flexible structure encourages skill development while optimizing resource utilization and scheduling efficiency.
