System administrators are the backbone of internet operations, tackling diverse technological challenges across industries. This training opens doors to global career opportunities in any sector you desire.

Unlike typical programs, you'll have dedicated workstation access rather than sharing with hundreds of peers. Your learning happens in a consistent classroom environment with the same group of classmates throughout, fostering deep connections and lasting professional relationships. Beyond career-ready skills, you'll graduate with essential software tools and storage solutions, plus ongoing instructor support after completing the program.
The ITAS - Systems Administration and Networking program equips students for professional roles involving network design, implementation, maintenance, and management of internet-connected information systems. Blending comprehensive theory with practical, project-focused training, the program utilizes current industry standards to develop both technical expertise and vital soft skills like collaboration, communication, and project leadership - all aligned with VIU's graduate competencies to meet employer needs for versatile tech professionals.

Students will master contemporary IT administration competencies, preparing them for positions involving IT infrastructure deployment, network operations, system management, cybersecurity, and cloud virtualization solutions.

This two-year diploma program features two four-month academic terms annually, complemented by a one-month practicum following the first year.

Year one establishes fundamental knowledge in computer hardware, Windows/Linux client-server environments, wired/wireless networking, and project coordination methods.

During year two, students gain hands-on experience deploying and managing enterprise IT services including directory services, email systems, web servers, cloud/virtual platforms, network infrastructure, and security protocols across Windows Server, Linux, and VMware ecosystems. Graduates earn a diploma in Information Technology and Applied Systems - Systems Administration and Networking.
