Students pursuing the diploma need to enroll in the Bachelor of Hospitality Management program. During their initial year, they must declare their intention to graduate with the Hospitality Management Diploma. After finishing the first two years (60 credits, including co-op work terms), participants qualify to obtain the Hospitality Management Diploma.
This two-year diploma equips learners with essential knowledge and skills for a thriving career in hospitality. The curriculum combines classroom instruction with hands-on experience in campus dining facilities, instructional kitchens, and special event participation. Additionally, students must complete two paid co-op placements at resorts across British Columbia and Alberta, where they put their skills into practice.
The diploma program readies graduates for various supervisory and management roles in tourism. Coursework explores management through behavioral, functional, situational, and systems approaches, with special emphasis on service-oriented organizations. Management labs help students cultivate their personal leadership approaches. The program thoroughly examines the connection between marketing and management, as this forms the foundation of tourism industry practices.
This diploma primarily aims to equip students for entry-level roles, with progression to mid-level management positions in the tourism sector.
