The BTM program enhances prior diploma studies in Recreation and Sport Management, Tourism Studies, and Hospitality Management that emphasize workplace-ready competencies. Applicants with diplomas in Recreation, Travel and Tourism, Hospitality, Physical Education, or Outdoor Recreation can enter directly into the third year of this degree program.
This program delivers practical knowledge for creating tourism experiences and overseeing tourism operations, while cultivating leadership and business development skills. It prepares graduates for advanced organizational roles or launching new ventures in the tourism sector.
The following are admission requirements for students applying to Year 1 of the Bachelor of Tourism Management program:
Students may apply to the third year of the degree program after successful completion of a diploma in Recreation and Sport Management, Tourism Studies, Hospitality Management, or by permission of the department.
To meet the English language requirements for academic program, students must have completed:
VIU English Language Centre's - Successful completion of University Preparation Level 5
International Baccalaureate English A1/A2 - Higher Level (HL)/ Standard Level (SL) grade 3 or higher
IELTS 6.5 (with no band under 6.0)
TOEFL 550 (with no section under 56)
TOEFL iBT 88 (with no section under 20)
Pearson (PTE) 60 no section below 60
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English with a minimum Cambridge English Score of 176.
