Exploring History plays a crucial role in building a progressive, compassionate, thriving, and liberated society where people can engage as well-informed, participatory citizens. As they progress through their education, History scholars examine both primary and secondary sources that aim to provide knowledge and analytical comprehension of their subjects, while introducing them to diverse methodologies, viewpoints, and historical frameworks. Learners also investigate historical backgrounds and varying interpretations of materials, thereby sharpening their analytical abilities. Beyond simply conversing with bygone eras, studying History empowers students to more effectively interact with contemporary issues and ready themselves for what lies ahead.
The History program provides undergraduate studies at two tiers: 100200 (introductory/foundational) and 300400 (advanced thematic studies). Courses labeled 300 or 400 can count toward either third or fourth-year requirements. Typically, students should finish 100200-level classes before enrolling in advanced courses within the same discipline.
