This two-year program equips graduates with technical expertise to boost diesel and automotive engine power, improve vehicle performance, and conduct repairs, servicing, and maintenance on high-performance automobiles.
After completing the program, graduates will be capable of: Working safely while adhering to WorkSafe BC and WHMIS standards.
Demonstrating professional communication and workplace skills in business environments.
Operating hand tools, measuring instruments, and power equipment safely and efficiently.
Performing routine automotive maintenance and high-performance upgrades involving fluids and lubrication, belts and hoses, exterior lighting, body components, tires and wheels, as well as bearings, spindles, and hubs.
Evaluating, troubleshooting, servicing, and enhancing hydraulic drum brakes, disc brakes, power-assisted brakes, and anti-lock braking systems.
Inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and upgrading steering mechanisms.
Assessing, troubleshooting, servicing, and improving suspension components.
Understanding and troubleshooting electrical, electronic, and ignition systems.
Interpreting On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system data using sophisticated electrical testing equipment, including computer controls and network systems.
Identifying and maintaining fuel delivery systems, various fuel types, alternative fuels, and gasoline injection components.
Explaining and testing engine management systems, including sensor inputs and actuator outputs.
Understanding emerging automotive technologies and hybrid systems.
Conducting engine tuning and dynamometer assessments.
