The Plasma Surface Engineering and Tribology Laboratory focuses on developing multifunctional materials with self-adjusting surfaces to reduce reliance on coolants, lubricants, and environmentally harmful coatings and processes. Our facility houses an Eco-friendly Plasma Surface Engineering Research Lab, Nanomechanical Test System, and PVDCVD Laboratory. Our team of skilled researchers explores diverse areas including Plasma Surface Engineering, Thin Films and Coatings, Nanomaterials, Biomaterials, Smart Materials and Structures, Tribology, Wear, Corrosion, Erosion, and Nanomicro-mechanical Properties. Our work receives support from NSERC, CFI, OIT, OCE, AutoSteel Partnership, USAMP, General Motors, Chrysler, Ford Motor, and other industry partners.

Our mission is to establish research foundations that will transform industrial practices and enhance productivity sustainably through innovative nanostructured materials and cutting-edge surface engineering technologies.

Qualification Requirements

Graduates of recognized universities may apply for admission. In general, admission to graduate study is granted only to those students who have good academic records and who are adequately prepared to undertake graduate work in their field of specialization. In particular, an applicant for admission to a graduate program leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have either a Master's degree or, in exceptional cases, a four-year Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent; with a minimum average of 77% (or equivalent). Possession of the minimum requirements does not ensure admission. Transcripts, IBT-83 Minimum IELTS: 6.5
