Encourages cross-disciplinary partnerships and drives groundbreaking research through collaborations with government and industry leaders like CanmetMATERIALS, Ford Motor Company, and D&V electronics
Maintains one of North America's premier EV powertrain testing facilities, capable of evaluating various electric motors and drive systems up to 150 kW with six-phase operation at 14,000 rpm

Features Opal-RT real-time simulation technology, thermal imaging for motors and power electronics, plus specialized designs including permanent magnet, switched reluctance, brushless DC, and both aluminum- and copper-rotor induction machines

Operates customized power converters up to 80 kVA for motor control and charging research, alongside advanced power analyzers, oscilloscopes, and precision measurement instruments

Qualification Requirements

Graduates of recognized universities may apply for admission. In general, admission to graduate study is granted only to those students who have good academic records and who are adequately prepared to undertake graduate work in their field of specialization. In particular, an applicant for admission to a graduate program leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have either a Master's degree or, in exceptional cases, a four-year Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent; with a minimum average of 77% (or equivalent). Possession of the minimum requirements does not ensure admission. Transcripts, IBT-83 Minimum IELTS: 6.5.
