The Department of Mathematics and Statistics provides top-tier undergraduate and graduate programs within a nurturing academic community. Our faculty's research achievements and instructional expertise make us a premier destination for your degree. Undergraduate students can pursue a Bachelor of Mathematics in pure mathematics or mathematics and statistics. We feature combined degrees with Computer Science and the Odette School of Business, concurrent education degrees, and dual major options with nearly any other university program. For mathematics enthusiasts not seeking a full math degree, we offer Minor programs in both Mathematics and Statistics. Those pursuing actuarial careers will find our program particularly valuable, as we've trained numerous successful actuaries who frequently return to recruit new talent. Our graduate offerings include master's and PhD programs in mathematics and statistics, plus a specialized Master's of Actuarial Science degree.

English Language Proficiency Requirement: Minimum score of 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS); Minimum score of 60 on the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE); minimum overall score of 176 on the Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) or the Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE); minimum score of 85 on the English Proficiency Test administered by the English Language Institute of the University of Michigan (MELAB); minimum score of 220 with a T.W.E. 4.5 on the Computer-based Test, 83 with an essay score of 20 on the Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); minimum score of 60 on the Carleton University’s Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL).
