Management sciences is an expansive interdisciplinary field focused on solving problems and making decisions within organizations. It blends analytical modeling with behavioral science approaches to tackle society's most challenging issues. Students develop expertise in supply chain operations and optimization techniques while engaging with pioneering research in human-computer interaction, sustainable energy solutions, and entrepreneurial innovation. Offering three primary specialization tracks, the program allows both students and faculty to tailor their learning and research to align with individual interests and career aspirations. The department provides a dedicated management engineering bachelor's degree, plus a management sciences option for students in other engineering disciplines. Following Waterloo's distinctive co-op model, all undergraduates complete up to six 4-month work placements alternating with academic terms. This hands-on experience strengthens classroom instruction, delivering a comprehensive and practical education. The University of Waterloo's Management Sciences Department features a multifaceted curriculum with research specializations in applied operations research, information systems, and technology management.
