The Faculty of Health provides Canada's first joint PhD program specializing in aging, health, and wellness. This interdisciplinary doctoral initiative serves as a foundation for gaining comprehensive insights into matters affecting older adults' health and quality of life. Students may enroll through any department or school within the Faculty of Health, using this cross-disciplinary approach to examine various aspects of senior health and wellness. The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies recognizes that we operate on the ancestral lands of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee nations. The University of Waterloo occupies the Haldimand Tract, territory guaranteed to the Six Nations encompassing twenty kilometers along both sides of the Grand River. While maintaining remote operations, we understand that department members may live on different Indigenous territories.
