The Cognitive Psychology program offers students a dynamic and engaging setting to explore the mind and behavior, fostering close collaboration among peers and professors. This program focuses on honing your research abilities to conduct exceptional, self-directed studies. Typically, applicants enter through the MA program before progressing directly to the PhD. Cognitive Psychology examines mental processes—how we learn, retain, process, and share information. Grasping these cognitive functions offers profound insights into human identity and behavior, while also enabling practical applications to enhance daily life.
Our Cognitive Psychology graduate program is research-focused, equipping students with deep theoretical knowledge and the expertise to conduct independent studies. We strive to give students the resources and experiences needed to advance their scientific pursuits and achieve their professional aspirations, whether in academic or corporate settings. For instance, through our Applied Practicum course, students can gain hands-on experience in industry roles related to cognitive psychology. We also promote interdisciplinary collaboration, both within cognitive psychology and beyond—such as our strong partnership with the department’s Cognitive Neuroscience faculty. This collaborative approach cultivates a stimulating environment for investigating the complexities of the human mind.
