As the pioneering Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences globally, we maintain our commitment to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration for enhancing wellness, reducing injuries and illnesses, and prolonging active, fulfilling lives.
Our esteemed master's program, recognized both nationally and internationally, offers insights into how physical activity, nutrition, and lifestyle impact individuals from cellular to societal levels - equipping students for diverse careers in health-related fields.
The PhD program involves advanced coursework featuring interdisciplinary seminars and specialized research discussions, comprehensive exams, original research contributions to expand knowledge, and dissemination of findings through peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Studies and research concentrate on three primary disciplines: Biomechanics, Neuroscience, or Physiology and Nutrition.
Kinesiology research encompasses cellular, biophysical, and psychosocial factors influencing movement across various contexts including sports, occupational activities, exercise regimens, and disease management.
Prospective master's or doctoral candidates apply to specialize in one of three concentrations: biomechanics, neuroscience, or physiology and nutrition. These programs emphasize critical areas like aging, injury/disease prevention, health enhancement, and rehabilitation.
Due to kinesiology's inherently multidisciplinary character, we welcome applications from undergraduate and graduate students with backgrounds or interests in biology, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, anatomy, engineering, systems design, physics, health studies, sociology, social psychology, or psychology.
