The Bachelor of Knowledge Integration (BKI) is an adaptable, rigorous transdisciplinary program designed for innovative students with diverse talents. This unique program allows students to pursue interests across both arts and sciences, while developing essential skills to tackle intricate challenges, communicate clearly, and thrive in our evolving global landscape. When traditional academic paths feel too restrictive, Knowledge Integration (KI) offers an alternative. Beyond blending arts and science, KI focuses on cultivating core competencies for addressing multifaceted issues and creating meaningful impact. Each KI degree is uniquely tailored—you can shape your studies around personal interests, ranging from tech and software to health sciences, environmental concerns, and public policy. High-achieving students seeking the flexibility to combine varied interests will find this program ideal. Your degree opens diverse career paths—alumni have pursued fields from design to business analysis to speech therapy, while others have advanced to graduate programs, medical school, or law school.
The BKI can be paired with any other University of Waterloo degree that faculties like Environment have approved for joint honours. Knowledge Integration can serve as either your primary degree (Bachelor of Knowledge Integration with "Z" plan) or secondary credential (Bachelor of "Y" in "X" plan with Knowledge Integration).
