University life offers the wonderful opportunity to expand your perspectives, uncover fresh passions, and engage in diverse extracurricular pursuits. The Liberal Studies program provides this flexibility. Often referred to as liberal arts degrees elsewhere, Liberal Studies enables you to investigate numerous disciplines across humanities, social sciences, languages and cultures, as well as fine and performing arts – along with elective courses from Waterloo's other faculties. You can specialize your degree with one or more minors, or maintain a broad, general approach. (If you develop a deep passion for a particular subject, you can always transition to a major later.) Academic advisors are available to assist with degree planning and course selection. Enhance your education further through Waterloo's EDGE (experiential learning) certificate, Global Experience Certificate programs, or by combining Liberal Studies with an Honours Arts and Business degree. Key program features include: Over 100 academic fields. Waterloo's extensive selection of subjects gives you remarkable flexibility (including the option to complete your degree online). Transfer-friendly policy. The Liberal Studies program accepts up to 50% of credits from other programs or previous academic work.
