Our on-campus MPA thesis program offers a rigorous curriculum emphasizing strategic awareness, analytical skills, communication, and leadership development. You'll engage in coursework and two co-op placements, gaining practical experience to support your original thesis research, which may involve partnership with an external organization.
Program Outcomes
Students in the on-campus MPA thesis track will develop expertise in strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, teamwork, stakeholder engagement, effective communication, research methodology, professional conduct, and leadership.
Your thesis project will focus on investigating real-world issues and formulating strategic solutions for policy or management challenges faced by government bodies, non-profits, or community partners. This involves comprehensive literature reviews, empirical research, benchmarking best practices, and developing actionable recommendations.
The Thesis-Based MPA (Co-op/On Campus) program features an intensive curriculum designed to cultivate strategic thinking, analytical abilities, stakeholder engagement, communication skills, professional standards, and leadership qualities. The program alternates between two academic terms and two co-op work placements, culminating in a thesis project that may be conducted with an organizational partner. This capstone project requires investigating complex problems and developing strategic approaches to address policy or management issues for public sector, nonprofit, or community clients, incorporating literature analysis, empirical research, best practice evaluation, and solution development. All coursework in the MPA program builds toward successful thesis completion.
