This graduate program offers advanced training in research and practical approaches to assist students with exceptional needs. It covers a wide range of conditions including learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, sensory impairments, communication challenges, intellectual/physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, and giftedness. The curriculum highlights inclusive practices, resilience-building, and developmental health support across various environments like schools, homes, and communities.
The program integrates psychological theories and research into educational practice. You'll implement evidence-based strategies and develop skills to address specialized learning requirements. Choose from these concentration areas: learning, development and instructional sciences
measurement, evaluation and computer applications (currently unavailable), or special education
This MEd program follows a project-based format. We also provide a thesis-based MA option, particularly suitable for those considering advanced academic pursuits.
LDIS Stream students will: analyze and implement current research on learning, self-regulation, motivation and development, apply psychological principles to evidence-based teaching in diverse settings
develop skills in research analysis, interpretation and synthesis, effectively communicate academic knowledge to various audiences, acquire specialized expertise in their chosen focus area
