Examine theater's historical roots and structural elements while honing artistic research abilities in an interactive research-creation setting.
The Theatre Studies MA program provides practical training in performance research methodologies, theoretical frameworks, and analytical approaches under the guidance of distinguished academics and industry experts.
During their first year, students actively participate in coursework that prepares them to undertake, in their second year, an autonomous research initiative culminating in a publishable academic paper.
Program Outcomes
Participants in this program will:
investigate and assess diverse methodological approaches used in contemporary theater and performance research
acquire hands-on experience with theater research techniques including keyword exploration, literature review construction, proposal development, grant applications, resource identification, ethics protocol navigation, scholarly contribution formulation, and academic dissemination
identify core philosophical questions in theater studies by examining theoretical perspectives spanning ancient traditions to modern global viewpoints
develop effective graduate-level academic practices (critical reading techniques, writing strategies, revision methods, productivity systems)
