Enhance your Indigenous language skills while helping to preserve and renew your community's linguistic heritage. Learn teaching methods rooted in both language and culture. Upon completion, you'll be qualified to teach kindergarten through grade 12 in both band-operated and public schools across British Columbia. The initial two years of this program are conducted collaboratively with language communities.
The University of Victoria's Department of Indigenous Education is proud to present , an IED Integrated 10-Course Set that provides a TQS Upgrade for educators. This program enables teachers to gain insights from Indigenous knowledge systems while building meaningful relationships with local Indigenous communities to deepen their understanding of Indigenous cultures and societies.

Qualification Requirements

completion of four years of full-time academic studies in which all language of instruction is English, at a high school or post-secondary institution in a recognized English-speaking country
High school diploma or equivalent (academic stream) with high-level results / minimum GPA 3.0 or equivalent
completion of Grade 12 English or its equivalent in Canada with a final grade of 86% or higher within the last three years prior to admission
a score of 86% or higher on the BC Provincial Grade 12 English Examination within the last three years prior to admission
a score of 4 or higher on the Advanced Placement Exam in English Language and Composition
a score of 4 or higher on IB Higher Level English A
English Language Proficiency Requirement: minimum IELTS 6.5 (no subscore below 6.0) / TOEFL minimum 90 (no section less than 20) or equivalent
