The Graduate Department of Public Health Sciences at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health provides both full-time and part-time graduate degree options. Prospective students should ideally possess foundational knowledge in statistics and quantitative methods, with relevant work experience also being considered. The Master of Public Health (MPH) program prepares students for professional and research roles across community, academic, government, and private settings, while the Master of Science (MSc) focuses on research-oriented careers in Biostatistics.
Public Health Sciences (PHS) provides diverse opportunities for both newcomers to public health and experienced professionals seeking to expand their knowledge. With over 800 graduate students enrolled, our doctoral and master's programs cover numerous specializations within one of the globe's top-ranked public health institutions.
A critical connection exists between public health and primary care clinical practice1,2. Research confirms that population health outcomes are closely tied to accessible primary care services3. As a key factor influencing health outcomes, primary care delivery represents a worldwide public health priority. Family doctors and primary care practitioners serve as public health frontliners - detecting emerging health concerns, encouraging wellness, conducting screenings, advocating for patients, and implementing public health measures4. The patient-centered services delivered by these clinicians can be further strengthened through population-level insights and competencies gained from MPH degree training.
