The Voice Studies program at UofT stands among North America's most rigorous and well-rounded offerings. Its foundation lies in an exceptional group of studio instructors. What truly sets it apart is the remarkable variety of courses, performance chances, and yearly engagements with internationally renowned guests.
Students can choose from an unmatched selection of beginner, advanced, and graduate-level courses covering lyric diction, language studies, piano-vocal masterclasses, German Lieder, French mélodie, oratorio, and teaching methods. UofT's Vocal Pedagogy Program leads the way in blending artistic expression, scientific research, instruction, and performance. The curriculum balances practical performance with teaching methodology, advancing research on individual vocalists while examining vocal development across all life stages. The program maintains strong connections with related disciplines like opera, choral studies, historical performance, and piano collaboration.
UofT's Choral Activities engage a diverse student body through multiple ensemble options, including the Men's Chorus, Women's Chamber Choir, University Women's Chorus, and MacMillan Singers. Numerous yearly performances often feature collaborations with GTA choral organizations. The program has gained particular recognition for its graduate-level choral conducting training and summer workshops.
