The University of Toronto's Vocal Pedagogy Program leads in a discipline that merges artistic expression, scientific inquiry, instructional methods, and live performance. The curriculum balances performance training with teaching methodology, enhancing research on individual vocalists while examining vocal development across the human lifespan. Voice studies collaborates extensively with related musical disciplines, including opera performance, choral education, historical music practices, and piano accompaniment. UofT's Choral Activities engage a diverse student body through multiple ensemble options like the Men's Chorus, Women's Chamber Choir, University Women's Chorus, and MacMillan Singers. The program presents numerous yearly performances, often featuring collaborations with choral organizations throughout the Greater Toronto Area. The choral conducting training initiatives, including graduate studies and intensive summer programs, have emerged as particularly successful components of the department.
