The Master of Finance (MF) program offers comprehensive theoretical and practical finance education, designed specifically for working professionals. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings and every other Saturday across a 20-month period, allowing participants to continue working while enhancing their expertise. This flexible schedule enables immediate application of classroom knowledge in professional settings. The program attracts students from diverse financial backgrounds including risk management, investment analysis, corporate finance, market research, accounting, securities trading, insurance, retirement planning, and legal professions.

Qualification Requirements

Minimum mid-B average (equivalent to a 3.0 from the University of Toronto) is required across courses in the final year. Candidates who meet or exceed all other requirements but do not meet the GPA requirement may be eligible for non-standard admission on a case-by-case basis.
GPA's are be calculated on the first undergraduate degree. If you have taken additional courses past graduation, or graduate studies those will be considered overall for your application but will not be used for your GPA calculation.
Minimum of two years of work experience in finance or a finance-related field strongly recommended.
On average applicants have five years of work experience.
We require a GMAT or GRE score from most candidates. You can be exempt if you meet one or more of the following criteria:
Passed CFA Level II or above
Passed the Common Final Exam (CFE) (or former UFE) for a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
or equivalent designations in other jurisdictions recognized by CPA Canada or CPA Ontario
University of Toronto graduates with a high distinction (3.5 GPA or higher) and graduates of an accredited university with a GPA equivalent to a University of Toronto 3.5 or higher once converted and with the permission of the MFin Academic Director
Obtained a professional designation in Engineering (P.Eng) or Actuarial Science (ACIA or FCIA)
or equivalent designations in other jurisdictions recognized by Engineers Canada or Canadian Institute of Actuaries, respectively
At the time of your application, we will require an unofficial transcript from each institution you have attended for credit. This includes undergraduate, graduate and exchange studies.

Undergraduate or graduate degree from a recognized English language university
TOEFL iBT (internet based test) score of 100 overall, with a minimum of 22 on speaking and writing.
IELTS minimum required score of 7.0, with at least 6.5 for each component
